Although the base Ubuntu packages have 5 years support, the KDE packages have 3 and Kubuntu website clearly states that the LTS version is “supported with security and maintenance updates” for 3 years.

Yet you still say:
“Furthermore, it provides packages via in-house repositories that provide extra quality over direct packages from Arch Linux. It is only available for 64-bit systems.”

Nothing to do with Arch. HTH

With the exception of Firefox, which is not well integrated into Fedora KDE Spin, at least it still uses the GTK file manager

Feren OS consumes a lot (a lot!) of recouses and is not KDE distro, but KDE re-coded, retweaked, removed KDE components, substituted components for ugly Mac style docks that consumes a lot of resources and is hard to use (switching applications, overview of opened apps etc) and buggy. This is not KDE distro. Its a distro with some of KDE components and this is not KDE devs created.

KaOS repos are tiny. Many applications are missing. Doesn’t support f2fs and KDE is hard-recoded. That is not what KDE devs created (e.g. unchangable vertical panel on the right, wtf! Its completely unusable).

I am also very impressed on Open Mandriva 5 (currently technical preview, Lx4.3 is also very, very good)

It goes through true Fedora testing (bodhi and koji) before it lands in the release. Fedora also has weekly spin builds for stable version. On top of all of these each DE on Fedora has a perfectly chosen list of applications that integrate into the chosen DE (lxqt, xfce, kde). There’s no such thing as Thunderbird in Fedora’s KDE spin, but full KDE PIM metapackage. All created by KDE team and apps comming from KDE Gears.

Others like Endeavour aren’t KDE at all, not to mention it has only XFCE spin.

With so many KDE plasma distros out there, I also find Feren OS to be stable and highly customizable.
Though I think the use of the rooster icon as the menu button might turn off a few people.
Some think it looks silly.
But then again, it is there hangup not ours.

Zorin OS is much better to use the core edition and choosing the Gnome appearance version.

Most likely that will be my last computer, because I’m already 75 years of age.
Regards, Theo.

My aim is for KaOS or Neon, because I love KDE. I also use Kmail for incoming emails to translate.KaOS looks good, because they give insight in all the packages. NEON also looks good, however they don’t show the packages. ( For me , it’s all about Linux ).

True that. I feel Fedora should promote a little for KDE. But being a mainstream distro with latest tech, I thought Fedora should be in the list. But I concur with your view. Thanks.

It is presented as a default desktop with no customisation or thought given to make user’s experience better … like they with default GNOME desktop.

All others in the list make significant attempt to present KDE Plasma as it should be.

Please take Fedora off this list. Thank you,

On 14.2 it’s KDE 4, but on -current it’s the bleeding edge version.

It’s excellent. Also since Leap 15.3 I recommend using Tumbleweed for desktop as leap is a bit too safe and better suited as a freebie enterprise server. Been a user since SuSe 8.1

It deserves a spot in the top 10. It’s default desktop is ready to roll from the word go with highly sane and functional defaults. Plus it’s a good looking distro. Definitely underrated (pun intended)
