Quick fix on how to enable the Edit option in Shutter in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

If you have recently installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Shutter, you can see the Edit option inside Shutter is disabled. The reason is the package “libgoo-canvas-perl” is not available in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver. This package is required for Shutter’s image editing feature.

How to Fix

Here’s how you can install the package and its dependencies. Download below packages using below links:

Download libgoocanvas-common

Download libgoocanvas3

Download libgoo-canvas-perl

After download, install the packages in the above order via gdebi installer (If you do not have gdebi, install it using
sudo apt install gdebi
).

sudo gdebi libgoocanvas-common_1.0.0-1_all.deb
sudo gdebi libgoocanvas3_1.0.0-1_amd64.deb
sudo gdebi libgoo-canvas-perl_0.06-2ubuntu3_amd64.deb

Reboot the computer and relaunch Shutter. Now you can have the Edit option enabled in Shutter.
